Sam Bowles joins N.C. Board of Transportation as the newest member. This post has been nominated by Gov. Roy Cooper in order to represent Division 10 which comprises Anson, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Stanly, and Union counties.

Bowles is notably the managing partner in a private investment managing firm based in Charlotte known as Threadridge Investment Partners. Before joining this firm, he was associated with Carousel Capital, a middle-market private equity firm for more than 10 years.
The other work experiences of Bowles are also noteworthy. He held prestigious positions with the Mergers and Acquisitions Department at Morgan Stanley and Castle Harlan and Vestar Capital Partners. In the latter organization, he was an associate.
Bowles earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also has a master’s degree in business administration given by the Harvard Business School.
He also holds some influential positions with the UNC Healthcare System, The Springs Company, Contour Precision Manufacturing, the Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust, Kenan Flagler School Board of Visitors and Heart Math Tutoring.
Bowles took charge on Aug. 2 during the Board of Transportation meeting. With his entry, he replaces Tracy Dodson, who joined the city of Charlotte staff as assistant city manager for economic development during last April.
During the swearing ceremony, Judge Mark A. Davis was seen swearing in Sam Bowles to his highly responsible position on N.C. Board of Transportation in the presence of the board chairman Mike Fox who held the Bible.
